The room was surprisingly clean and cozy, and I slept comfortably. There were no odd smells, and I could move between the bathroom and the other bathroom without trouble, even with my suitcase open. The drain and sink did look a little worn in spots. I was lucky to get a non-smoking room, though I was told both smoking and non-smoking rooms were available. The three women at the front desk were all friendly and helpful, and check-in was easy with the translator's help. There's a free microwave on the first floor, along with a washing machine, but avoid doing laundry after 10 PM because of the noise. Aeon Mall and Family Mart are about 180 meters away. Parking is available in the basement for 15 cars, with about 10 more spaces above ground. Parking Lot 3 across the street takes up to 6 cars with double parking. The basement entrance is low, so I'd use the above-ground spaces unless you're a passenger. For longer or larger vehicles, Parking Lot 3 across the street is a better choice. The front desk has entrances to both the underground and above-ground parking lots.

For my one night in Shimabara, I stayed without meals. The room was for smoking, but there wasn't any lingering smell, and I was comfortable. A lot of reviews say the bathtub is small. At 180cm and slim, I was fine using just the shower. The amenities are limited, so keep that in mind if you depend on them.
