Hotel Kokomo

The hotel is an easy walk from th station and sits just off the main road. My double room was reasonably spacious for a business hotel, with a comfortable bed that gave me a couple of good nights' sleep. It had a private toilet but no shower, so you have to use the shared bath on the top floor. I didn't mind, since the bath was quite nice and had a good city view. Breakfast was also good value at 100 yen, with a choice of Western or Japanese style.

Breakfast is really cheap and worth having. This is a very good business hotel, though there are no shower facilities in the room, so you have to go to another floor. The shared area has a sauna and a Japanese bathtub, with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and a hair dryer.

The onsen was okay, and I appreciated having bicycle parking. The rest of my stay was pretty much terrible. I was on a cycling tour in Japan, and this was my worst accommodation experience so far. I can't recommend the place, especially for cyclists or people doing the pilgrimage. I'd suggest staying elsewhere. I hadn't booked a smoking room, but was assigned one at check-in. When I asked to switch to non-smoking, they declined and gave me an air freshener spray. The English information sheet said breakfast was from 7-10am, so I went down excited at 7 the next morning, only to learn I couldn't eat there. Apparently you needed a voucher, which I wasn't offered and nobody mentioned at check-in.

It's a very old hotel in a small town, so it won't suit you if you're looking for somewhere trendy and cozy. But the price is very cheap, making it a good option for budget travelers. Breakfast costs 100 yen and has a variety of food.
