Sunshine Hotel

The service felt sincere, and breakfast was decent. The rooms were cramped and not very good.

The staff were really kind and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is old and could use a refurbishment, but everything worked and we slept fine. Sunshine was on the expensive side, though that made sense given how few hotels there seem to be in Shingu, the difficulty of getting there, and the low volume I imagine it gets.

The staff were very accommodating, and breakfast was good and free, with good corona measures. It's a reasonably priced business hotel about a 10-minute walk from Shingu Station. The building is old and has no elevator, though parts of the room have been updated. Most rooms were smoking rooms and had some smell, but the air purifier made it acceptable.

The nice staff get one star, and the barely working washing machine gets another. The hotel itself gets zero. It may be cheap if you use all the free services, but most people don't, and almost everything seemed poorly maintained. It was probably the most shocking hotel I've come across in Japan, and it made me feel like I was in Taiwan or somewhere. Shingu City also seems short on good places like Comfort hotels or Super hotels.
