Okinawa Minshuku Kariyushi Bekkan

For just 1,000 yen, the Kimagure Lunch is hard to believe. I've eaten at plenty of places around Shirahama, and this was amazing. The cook joked, "The more you eat, the more you lose." Leaving five stars is my little way of saying thanks and showing support. Thanks so much, I'll be back 👋

The food was average, and the cramped tables made the small restaurant uncomfortable. I went with a friend for seafood lunch, but they wouldn't let us order one dish to share, even though I have a small appetite and knew I probably couldn't manage a full portion. I was right and left almost all of mine, which felt like such a waste. I wish they'd take smaller appetites into account. I wouldn't recommend the place, and I won't return.

We all loved the unusual design of the room and building, and the guidebook had lots of detailed explanations and photos. The room was clean and looked just like the pictures. There weren't any beds or a bathtub, but the shower was nice, and they provided towels and toothbrushes for everyone. The beach was only a six-minute walk away, with illuminations there too. Shops, food and snacks were close by, and we parked at a nearby pachinko parlor using the little sign left in the room. We were there over New Year's, so there were countdown fireworks. We'd gone to the amusement park during the day and were tired, so we slept through them. The whole family wants to come back in summer.

Plan on having a car here. The cafe is closed, so think about dinner, and taxis in Shirahama can be hard to find. One evening, all the taxis were unavailable for about two hours from around 6 PM. They weren't answering calls or taking bookings, probably because of COVID-19. The place itself looks like the photos. The air conditioning works well, and for stays of multiple nights they leave air freshener and a lint roller in the room. There's also a microwave and kettle. A footbath and convenience store are within walking distance. For taxi directions, mentioning the neighboring okonomiyaki restaurant, Ito Dental Clinic, and “Shirahama 3300” may help.
