Tomy's Log House - Need Car

The good part was that when we called to cancel, we explained why and weren’t charged a cancellation fee. We’d planned on having a BBQ at night, but with small children along, we got worried and canceled. The cabin is in the middle of a forest where wild animals might show up, and there are no streetlights along the way. There were lots of insects inside too, which made it feel unsuitable for an overnight stay.

The cabin has a spacious living room and kitchen downstairs, with six double beds upstairs. Its log cabin feel made it a really relaxing stay, and the roomy grounds were great for frisbee and walks. There’s a tarp outside for BBQ, and the place is pet friendly, so it worked well for the whole family. The red exterior adds to the excitement. The key is in a lockbox, so check-in doesn’t require meeting anyone. To find Tommy's Log House, follow the map, cross the bridge over the Tobiu River, then take the next left. The road ends at the house, so it’s quiet and you won’t run into other people. It was cloudy during our stay, so we couldn’t see the stars, but I’m sure the night sky would be beautiful. It’s the closest inn to Tobiu Forest, making it handy for art festivals or camping trips.

There were three of us, and the nearby mountain stream fishing spot made the location just right. The garden has a BBQ grill and chairs, and the cabin kitchen has tableware, so bringing your own food should be fine. I think there were four or five bed sets upstairs, but I was drunk and can’t quite remember. 🤭

There were no streetlights on the way in or around the log house. The room was full of bugs, and sleeping was impossible. There was no cancellation fee.
