Suzukiya Ryokan

The traditional Japanese feel was one of my favorite parts. I loved eating and sleeping in a tatami room, and having room service bring everything meant I could just relax, eat, and take the occasional Onsen soak. The staff were incredible. They asked what I planned to do each day and did their best to help me make it happen, with tips and local knowledge about good places to go. Once, they even gave me an extra ride into the city. Thank you! I'm very particular about cleanliness and couldn't find a single thing to complain about. The meals and drinks were just as good. Breakfast and dinner were brought to my room, with all sorts of local food, from vegetables to fish, meat, and seafood. Every dish seemed tastier than the last, and the presentation was lovely, with each item served in beautiful bowls and plates. Everything felt carefully prepared, down to the details. Water and green tea were available whenever I wanted, and I could order other drinks through room service or the maid bringing meals.

The meals were plentiful and delicious. There's a shuttle car that can take you to a few places and back to the train station. They have both indoor and outdoor onsens, separated for men and women. Really nice ryokan and good service.

A nice spot to cool off after a relaxing bath. They have light meals, coffee, refreshing drinks, ice cream, and a range of local souvenirs. It's great to see a modern touch in this area, an aging hot spring town tucked away in the mountains.

We came to see the fox village, and the ryokan arranged a ride there for us. They also served a full traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast in a private room. The accommodations were lovely, and the staff made us feel welcome and were extremely helpful. A great ryokan experience.
