We came for a family ski trip and found the inn comfortable, with warmth even in the hallways. The meals were generous and very satisfying. Watch your head on the third floor, though. There are lots of spots where you could bump it, including by the entrance.
The restaurant’s location near the ski resort and its food both get high marks. Suiro's Ginjo Nama Sake No. 1 costs 700 yen, as does Ebisu's Nama Dai. Both are served chilled, the way the host prefers.
The meals are so filling you’ll feel like a real carnivore. This pension has a homey atmosphere, and I stay here when I go skiing because it’s convenient for reaching all the many ski resorts in Sugadaira. One drawback in winter is that the tap only has cold water, so washing my face was a pain.
I visited in mid-September 2015, ten years ago. It was cold, but we had a great time at the BBQ!
It’s a mountain hut style building, and you can hear people in the hallways and neighboring rooms. The meals are quite filling, which younger guests may enjoy, but children and middle-aged people might find them too much.
