Inside was a lovely surprise, so don’t let the exterior put you off. I liked the family-run feel, and the staff went out of their way to help. My wife wanted something sweet, so I asked and they brought ice cream from the back. We had a great view from a very comfortable room, and I slept amazingly well. Dinner came with all kinds of fish and so much food, I’m not sure most people could finish it. I definitely want to return.
I went down for breakfast and was amazed to find it already prepared. I just had a glass of orange juice and some coffee.
The staff were all so friendly, and their jokes made chatting with them a lot of fun ^_^. The food was fantastic: incredibly fresh, plump sashimi, and fried pufferfish seasoned just right. Breakfast was so generous I couldn’t eat it all. The room and bathroom had a retro look, but both were very clean and comfortable. I did notice other guests’ footsteps a bit. It was my first visit, and I’d love to stay again. Next time I’ll arrive with a bigger appetite, lol.
Go for the course featuring local fish. Even if hot springs aren’t important to you, it’s well worth the stay. A single night feels like a waste, and be careful not to eat too much.
The proprietress was cheerful, adorable, and reminded me of Bridget Jones. She’s someone you won’t forget after meeting her. We stayed two nights and had a different menu each evening, which made for a lovely visit. The room looked renovated and was clean. The large public bath wasn’t a hot spring, but it left my skin feeling smooth. As for the meals, there was far more than we could finish: a big boat-shaped platter of fresh sashimi, pufferfish sashimi and fried pufferfish, pufferfish hot pot, simmered sea bream, Tahara pork, then melon and watermelon for dessert. I’d definitely like to come back.
