Taiji Onsen Hanairodori no Yado Kayu

I didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant, though it looked good. Nearby, there’s an aquarium and a whale museum. The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, with tatami mats and nice decoration. It felt a little dated, but that gave it a different character and made me appreciate its beauty. I especially liked the outdoor bath, where you can soak in the hot water and look at the stars. The indoor bath was good too, but the view outside made it my favorite place to unwind at the end of the day.

The setting is quiet and a great escape from the city, though there’s no convenience store nearby, so you may need to drive for one. The hotel itself was one of my favorite stays in Japan. Our room was spacious, very clean, and had an amazing view. Service was excellent, and dinner and breakfast were very good, with piano music playing.

My wife was happy with everything and wants to come back, and I feel the same. The rooms are a bit old but cozy. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the view was amazing. There’s also a pool for kids and a simple but nice onsen with two types of baths. It’s next to a dolphins and whale museum, with shows and everything.

Dinner and breakfast, a Western-Japanese combination, were quite impressive. The staff’s English could really use a training course or two, though, and cleanliness around the hotel could be better. The indoor hot spring facilities were average at best. From my room window I could see a so-called “research boat” docked by the shore. Our tour guide told us that boats like that hunted whales semi-legally.
