Hotel Takamatsu Hills

It's an aging hotel, but clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. The free breakfast was very good and filling, with a variety of foods in a serve-yourself buffet.

A simple business hotel that's worth staying at.

The free breakfast was just so-so, with limited choices and nearly the same menu every day even though I stayed several nights. The udon was a nice Kagawa touch. Free drinks are available, including a welcome drink, but the coffee often ran out, which was disappointing. On a multi-night stay, they don't clean the room at all, only bring fresh towels each day, so it feels like something is missing. It's a somewhat old-fashioned business hotel, and the dated rooms may not suit younger people. I think it works better for budget travelers or people on business.

The location made getting around easy: it’s in a lively area, roughly a 20-minute walk from Tamamo Park and Takamatsu Port. In August, the newer-looking air conditioner remote was a welcome sight, and the room stayed cool. There’s also a washing machine for 400 yen and a dryer for 100 yen. The bed is small, though. I’d say it’s a tight fit for a couple unless you’re both very slim, and about half the guests I noticed were traveling solo. I was in Takamatsu for the first time, flying directly from Taichung. Starlux’s ticket was about NT$12,500, less than the roughly NT$20,000 flight to Okinawa, but I found accommodation here more expensive than in Okinawa. I stayed two nights, August 22 and 23, 2025, for NT$3,400 a night. The room was around 12 square meters, and the old key made me guess the hotel was at least 60 years old 😅. At that price in Okinawa, you could get a 20-square-meter room at a hotel with a beach and pool. Check-in and breakfast are on the second floor. Breakfast is simple, with freshly cooked udon as the signature dish. The free cocktail machine was the biggest perk, and it’s available outside breakfast hours too 👍!
