On my last day in Takamatsu, I asked at checkout if I could leave my luggage, and the staff member’s attitude really upset me. He never smiled and seemed annoyed, gave me several unfriendly, even hostile looks, and muttered something negative in Japanese to himself rather than speaking to me. He was wearing a mask, so I couldn’t make out exactly what he said. I left disappointed, realizing not everyone in Japan is nice and kind.

The hotel is right by Walking Street, so the location is hard to beat. There’s parking, and my room was clean. I really loved staying here. I left my ring in the room and came back the next day to look for it. The receptionist checked promptly and returned it to me. I was genuinely surprised and grateful for the excellent help and service. Thank you to the staff member who helped get my ring back!

I was really happy with my stay. Toyoko Inn always gives great service, and this time I could use my club card points to pay for two nights, which is a great perk for returning customers. I especially liked the udon at the breakfast buffet. It was a nice local touch.

The room had almost no daylight, with a wall about a metre from the window and nothing to look at. When I raised it with reception, they said the hotel was full and they couldn't move me. I don't think it's fair to assign a room like that without telling guests beforehand that it has minimal light and no view. The way this was handled felt like a shonky business practice, and the staff's lack of empathy made me even more frustrated.
