Stone House Inn Camello

The family bath was really pleasant. I stayed in a cottage with my pet near Mount Aso, where the scenery was beautiful and the weather cool. There was free Wi-Fi for phones, but the connection barely worked, which was disappointing. A microwave was available, but there wasn’t one in the room, so bring heat-resistant dishes if you plan to eat there.

There weren’t any convenience stores or vending machines nearby, which really made it feel like we’d stepped away from everyday life. It was Golden Week, but the hotel wasn’t full and there were few other guests, so it felt like a quiet hidden gem. The food was delicious and especially satisfying. Meal and bath times felt a little tight.

The guesthouse has a stately look but a relaxed atmosphere, with a beautiful European style garden and lovely interiors and exterior. The price is affordable. Dinner is served as a set course, and the homemade bread at breakfast is delicious. The stone built family bath is a highlight for a guesthouse. Families and groups traveling with pets might also like the refreshing mezzanine cottages, which have the same stately feel as the main building.

I spent one night here during a motorcycle tour. I couldn’t book a meal plan, so I only had a room, but it was a quiet and lovely guesthouse. The landlady was friendly and chatty, while her son, who seemed to run the kitchen, was quiet, handsome, and gentle. They made a nice balance. Next time I’d like to bring my dog and book a room with meals.
