Hotel Crown Hills Takaoka

The Wi-Fi worked well, and it's a great hotel. Just remember, you have to go down to the first floor to get a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Getting to the station is easy, and Takaoka Daiden Zuiryuji is nearby.

I paid just under 5,000 yen, breakfast included. At check-in I noticed breakfast was only about 700 yen, so I expected it to be pretty basic, but there was a good variety and I was very satisfied. Other business hotels seem to charge around 1,500 yen for breakfast. They had firefly squid (?) and kamaboko, which let me try a little Toyama cuisine. They also offered alcohol and coffee in the evening, though the selection was limited to one or two drinks, so that was a bit underwhelming. Still, it was better than nothing. The room was standard business hotel style but had some space. For the price, I was more than happy and would stay again.

For value, I think this is the best hotel around. Its size falls between APA Hotel and Smile Hotel. The bath is dirty, but breakfast is a very good deal for the price. They also serve free curry for dinner, which helps save money, and it has a surprising amount of ingredients, so it doesn't get boring. The shampoo and other amenities are really good too.
