The price is a real draw, especially with hotel rates having risen so much in recent years, including in Takasaki. For that amount, I got the basics I wanted: a bath to soak in, a bed where I could stretch out, and a cold beer from the fridge. The air conditioning and shower worked perfectly. It’s a little far from Takasaki Station, but that’s manageable by taxi or car. Parking lots 1, 2, and 3 are available for guests at no charge. The equipment is a bit dated, but the hotel was well kept and comfortable. Toothbrushes and other amenities are supplied, though I’d bring my own. The front desk staff were very polite and even showed me how to open the doors, which can be a little tricky.

I noticed it as soon as I checked in and used the toilet: there were urine stains and bits of feces on the seat. They came off when I rubbed them with toilet paper, which made me think the cleaning must have been pretty careless.

The year-round flat rate of 4,200 yen was a lifesaver on the day of the Takasaki Festival fireworks, when other business hotels were charging over 10,000 yen. At first, only smoking rooms were available, so I booked one. The hotel staff contacted me with check-in instructions. When I asked about the smoking room, they said the front desk floor was the smoking area and the smell was quite strong. A non-smoking room opened up after a last-minute cancellation. It may be worth checking Jalan every day in case one becomes available. The room had only basic amenities, so travel-sized body soap, disposable slippers, and paper cups might come in handy. The teacups weren’t very clean, either. Some facilities and services listed in the elevator are no longer available, so that information should be updated.

I appreciated the affordable rate during my three-night stay. There’s a parking lot under the overpass opposite the hotel. They said it might fill up, but I found a space all three days. If you arrive late, be aware they may be able to recommend other parking options. When I came back on the second night, the front desk told me there had been a strange odor during the midday cleaning, so they’d made the beds but couldn’t clean the bathtub. I figured things like that happen, so I washed it myself and filled it with water. On the third night, they didn’t mention anything, but the tub still hadn’t been cleaned. I washed and filled it again. I suppose labor shortages make this sort of thing hard these days. There was another problem, though. While I was in the room, my bare arms became incredibly itchy, and after a while bumps appeared all over, like mosquito bites. Probably mites. It was really unpleasant. Maybe some people wouldn’t mind, but I couldn’t handle it. Sorry for leaving an unpleasant comment.
