Hirayu Prince Hotel

We were so happy to find this place and book directly online after failing to book through a booking website. It feels like a small, old family-run accommodation, with just an older man and woman at the counter and no other staff that we saw. The building is traditional and a bit old, but our room, the onsen, and common areas were all very clean. It was peaceful and not a busy hotel, and there's a lovely zen garden with ducks. We originally booked two nights without meals, choosing either a western room or Japanese-style room. We arrived at night and asked for the Japanese-style room, but communication in Japanese and English was difficult, so we were given a western room. After the counter had closed, we called from the room and asked again. They said a Japanese-style room would be available the second night. The next morning they remembered and prepared it specially, so we could move our things right away. The ryokan room was lovely and big, with very comfortable futon, blankets, and pillows. Essentials were provided, and the bathroom was very clean. The people there were friendly and welcoming. The natural outdoor onsen is in a private room with a lockable door, and the whole onsen experience was amazing.
