Onyado Hisui

My husband and I drove here for a one-night stay on Saturday, February 7, 2026. There was just a little snow left along the way. Our Japanese-style room had 8 tatami mats, a spacious veranda, a washroom, and a toilet. Dinner and breakfast were served in private rooms, and the food was delicious. There was one indoor bath and one outdoor bath each for men and women. Other baths seemed to be available, but were closed for winter. I was alone in the baths most of the time. We also went to the free viewing event for Fukuchi Onsen's Aodaru Light-up. A traditional lion dance performance, “Hembetori,” was scheduled for 8:30 PM on February 7th and 8th, 2026.

The whole family of five, including the kids, had a great stay. Snow had just fallen, so we got to enjoy the kind of snowy scenery you hope for in Okuhida. The baths were open 24 hours, and I came away feeling completely rested. The 「blue ice formation」 in front of the inn was beautiful too. Dinner included mushroom hot pot, Hida beef steak, and shabu-shabu, but the salt-grilled iwana was especially delicious.

Everyone on the small staff was cheerful and incredibly helpful. After we came back from a rainy day with soaked shoes and socks, a bearded man kindly helped dry them. We had to leave early, and the lovely manager prepared breakfast for us in advance. The old-fashioned, two-story Japanese hotel has no elevator, but a tall, strong man carried my luggage up to the second floor. 👍👍👍 The bath was under repair, and I hope it opens again soon. A great choice for a self-driving tour in Kamikochi! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food had plenty of variety, tasted great, and left us very satisfied. This is a reasonably priced inn for anyone who loves hot springs, with lots of private baths available. We visited on a weekday in the off-season when there weren’t many guests, so we could use the baths as much as we wanted.
