The food was plentiful and really good, especially the delicious Hida beef. We stayed during Golden week, but I had both of the public onsen baths to myself: one indoors and one outdoors. There’s also a private outdoor bath, available first come, first served. Showers are in the public onsen, and the rooms themselves are spacious, clean, quiet, and have a private toilet. The owners were friendly and accommodating. They kept our luggage in the morning while we went to Kamikochi, and even helped me fix my broken suitcase before we left.

The owners were so kind and let us leave our bags while we visited Kamikochi before check-in. My husband and I had a lovely stay at Ryokan Tanaka, with everything from the rooms and onsens to dinner and breakfast just right. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The onsen was peaceful and really nice. It wasn’t crowded, and most of the time it was just my family in there, which I loved. Maybe it’s the sulphur, but my skin felt so smooth after each soak. We had two amazing days here. The owners were friendly and polite, the service was excellent, and our room was clean and comfortable. The food was fresh, and I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much 🤭 I’d come back if I get the chance.

The food spread was incredible. The owner and his wife(?) were working hard between breakfast, dinner, the front desk, and even cleaning rooms. The place itself was wonderfully cozy and quiet. My mother and I really enjoyed the onsen, which was just the right temperature for the weather. I hope to return.

Dinner and breakfast were both very good, and I felt the stay was great value for money. It’s a nice traditional ryokan with a natural hot spring, plus a private outdoor bath guests can use.
