Resonate Club Kuju

The yogurt from the dairy farm next door was a favorite, and I loved being able to grind coffee and make a pour over in the comfort of our room. We had great service and marvelous food during our stay at this rustic hotel with a traditional onsen feel. I do think the rooms could use a refurbishment, especially the toilet and sink.

The restaurant Meteor was very good, and the scenery around the Kuju mountains is spectacular. I also liked having access to the onsen. But the hotel itself felt dark and uncared for. The rooms weren’t convenient, and the overall cleanliness was disappointing. For a three-star hotel, I expected better.

At night they offered a star watching activity if the sky was clear. A lot of Japanese guests joined the night we were there, and we simply watched from the car park. The room was spacious and pleasant, just like the pictures on the website when we booked. Staff were friendly, and one of the younger staff members spoke good English and helped us reserve a table at a restaurant we planned to visit the next day. Dinner was ordinary, and I’d give breakfast 3.5/5. All in all, we had a very nice stay :)

The French food was superb, so kudos to the chef. We also enjoyed the natural spring water in the onsen. It’s an excellent lodge, with great staff and facilities. The only drawback was hauling our luggage up and down the stairs.
