The meals were delicious and comforting, and the views were breathtaking. The lodge is more like a hostel, with simple rooms and shared bathrooms, but it was clean and had everything we needed. It’s around a 10-minute walk from the station. We had some trouble finding it when we first arrived because it had just snowed. We really enjoyed staying here and would absolutely come back!

The onsen was a highlight for me. I had it to myself, and soaking in the warm water was great for relaxing my muscles after a day walking in the snow. The location and view are why I’d keep choosing this place. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the station, probably because of the snow, but there’s a marker to guide you. It’s also the cheapest in the area. The rooms were spacious and clean, the service was good, and the staff speak English. The food was GREAT, and there’s a vending machine if you want a drink. You can hike too. This was my first visit, but we’ll be back to this same hotel in the fall or sometime next year. A truly authentic Japanese experience. We loved it.
Dinner is served à la carte and was nice. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Quiet time starts at 9 p.m., when the lights go off. There are machines for beer and soft drinks. The bath is a regular bath, not an onsen. The hotel is up on the mountain, about a 10-minute walk over a stone path from Murodo station.
We stopped in for lunch. The gyudon was 1,000 yen, and the apple pie cost 600 yen and was delicious. It was warm, clean, and pleasant inside, without being crowded. The staff were friendly and attentive.
