Tendo City Hotel

I stayed in a smoking room and was grateful to find one available these days, since I’m a smoker and don’t stay in hotels often. The room was simple and clean, just what I’d expect from a hotel room. Noise from other rooms and the hallways bothered me a little, though. The hotel has an old-fashioned look that felt a bit intimidating from outside, and the lobby had a Showa or Heisei-era feel. The front desk staff were very friendly and put me at ease. Tendo Station is about a 20-minute walk away, which was a bit of a drawback. There are 7-Eleven and Sibel stores a short walk from the hotel, so shopping and meals shouldn’t be a problem. Walking back and forth to the station was good exercise, lol.

I found the homey atmosphere comfortable, quite different from the feel of national chain hotels. The Wi-Fi was good, there was plenty of parking, and the room was functional and perfectly fine. The TV had terrestrial and BS digital channels. I came by train. It cost 730 yen from Tendo Station, which gives you an idea of the area. Breakfast is available for a fee from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, with a choice of Japanese or Western style at check-in. I chose Western throughout the week, and they varied the fried eggs and omelets. The heating and cooling are central. It was on air conditioning when I arrived, then switched to heating the next day. There’s a convenience store right in front and a supermarket a short walk away. The restaurant had a warm atmosphere, and the couple who I think run it were very kind. There’s a 7-Eleven right in front of the hotel, which is handy. You can choose Japanese or Western food for breakfast, and both were delicious. I’d definitely stay here again.

I had a great stay here during Obon, for one night without meals. The room seemed renovated, and it was new, clean, and well maintained. The air conditioning worked well, and I appreciated the heated toilet seat. There were plenty of parking spaces, so I wasn’t worried about finding one. A convenience store, drugstore, and ramen shop were nearby, making it easy to shop and eat. I also enjoyed walking to the birthplace of the local ramen Tori Chuka and to the drinking district. A great inn.
