Tendo Hotel

The tatami rooms were lovely, the restaurant was wonderful, and there’s an onsen on the ground floor. The staff were friendly and spoke English very well. I hope I can come back one day. My only complaint is that the rooms use central air conditioning instead of individual units.

I liked the room and the view from its big windows. You can see the city and the mountains together. Good overall.

The level of service impressed me most, and I’d definitely return if I came back to this area. Everyone was so nice and made me feel like a valued customer. We arrived at Tendo train station after a beautiful, scenic ride over the mountains from Sendai. Staff at the tourist info center called the hotel, and a van came to pick up the four of us. Our driver was a young, energetic, enthusiastic, and polite gentleman. Check-in was painless, and I hadn’t expected such a spacious, luxurious hotel. Our room was relatively large, with a lovely view of the mountains and the north side of town. There were two tables, one large and one small, and two chairs. The toilet was in its own little room across from the bathtub and shower. We slept on really comfortable mats. The onsen was fabulous, though I didn’t use it and my wife did. Breakfast was included, and I’d say it was the best complimentary breakfast we had on this trip. The other breakfasts were really good too, but this one was the best in my opinion.

We had a fantastic one-night stay. We’ve been to Japan four times, and the outdoor bath felt really unique. The staff were friendly, the rooms were great, and breakfast was delicious. I’d recommend it.
