KKR is reasonably priced, and it serves both breakfast and dinner, though neither was especially delicious. Hot springs seem to be very famous in this area. I still thought the hotel was quite good overall.

The surroundings are nice.
Akirataro
That hot spring water is seriously strong. I had a wound in a sensitive area (lol), and getting in stung so much my legs went all wobbly. I was surprised, since even Kusatsu Onsen didn't make it sting, so this water must be very powerful. It tasted sour when I licked it, and was much more acidic than I expected, though the bath didn't smell as sulfurous as I thought it would. I went alone without meals, using a Jalan discount to pay just over 8,000 yen. The bus from the station takes about 10 minutes and costs 290 yen. The facilities are old but clean and perfectly fine. I ate some Hokkaido food at Inakaya Genpei, a nearby izakaya. The town seems to have become a little deserted, but it's a great hot spring♨️, and I hope it makes a comeback.

The room was clean and made a good impression, and I was satisfied with the spring water, which was the same quality I remembered. The bathtub is a little plain. Although dinner wasn't part of my plan, I got a 1,000 yen coupon to use in the hot spring town. This was my second stay here, more than 20 years after the first, when I used a discount through my workplace benefits. I used to live in Kitami and loved the quality of Kawayu Onsen's springs, and I stayed at private tourist hotels then. Accommodation prices there have risen, though not as much as at other tourist destinations, so this time I chose this hotel with the benefits discount.
