The owners made us feel very welcome and turned our short visit into a lovely stay. We spent one night in a traditional Japanese room in a beautiful, quiet old wooden house, close to the lake. The onsen is right next to it, which made the place feel especially unique.

The people are what made this ryokan stand out for me. They were kind, thoughtful, and wise, and I loved sharing stories and making new friends. The place itself is clean, simple, and cozy, with a living room and fireplace where it’s lovely to read, chat, or relax after a bath on a cold autumn night. The onsen water comes straight from the source and isn’t recycled or supplemented, and it’s incomparable. It’s not a luxury stay, but it deserves a visit for its true slow Hokkaidō pace.
The dog out front was so friendly. This is one of my favorite onsens in Hokkaido, with a rustic building and changing room that give the open-air bath a lot of character.
The onsen has a natural feel to its decor. Entry was 400 yen per person, and there are separate facilities for men and women only.
Cozy, classic place, and the dinner was nice.
