Rera Mashu

The spot is close to Lake Kushiro, but it didn’t have much local charm, and the off-season winter price felt high. Rooms are very basic. There’s no central heating, just a portable kerosene heater that switches off every three hours. Breakfast comes with the stay, though it’s only two slices of plain bread and a very simple salad.

We were treated kindly when we arrived late. The staff stayed up to remind us to drive safely at night. It’s a peaceful area and a great place to watch the stars. Breakfast was simple, tasty, and filling. We also spotted lots of deer and foxes along the way, a special surprise on our Hokkaido trip. The accommodation was very comfortable.

The host was really friendly, and breakfast was simple but enough. This is a clean, pleasant inn with just the basics, which was all I needed for a night. It seems to have been a hospital or similar building before, so it’s fully accessible. 🙂👍

I was very happy with my stay. The place is close to Teochew city center and Lake Mashu, with free parking, and the front desk staff were lovely. It’s a good fit if you want to stargaze at night or catch a sea of clouds early in the morning. Breakfast was tasty and simple, with a just-right portion that left room for other local food. The rooms have comfortable beds, especially the electric ones 😂, and spacious bathrooms with big tubs. Shared areas don’t offer much entertainment, but they’re comfortable. The hotel was formerly a nursing home, so accessible spaces and facilities are there from the entrance onward. That history is also the main drawback, and anyone who might feel uneasy about staying in a former nursing home should think it over.
