The charcoal-grilled seafood dinner was a highlight, incredibly fresh and delicious. Girin Onsen Hotel was a clean, charming place for our two-night getaway, and we found it easy to reach, about a 15-minute drive from Toba town center. The owner, a kind elderly lady, gave us a warm welcome. She doesn’t speak English, but Google Translate made it easy for us to communicate.

We were five fellow bikers staying at the inn, and the food and hospitality from the proprietress, her daughter, and the staff were wonderful. We all agreed it’d be worth making a motorcycle trip just to stay here. One of our bikes got a flat tire right before we left, so we had to get it repaired before setting off. Thanks for everything!

The room was clean for a guesthouse, and having a tray there made the stay comfortable. I usually get back pain from guesthouse futons, but I slept soundly this time. The bath isn’t a hot spring, though it does have an open-air option, and I found it relaxing. I found the place while searching online for an oyster trip, and it turned into a great experience. We added a boat-shaped oyster platter; the sashimi and other dishes were delicious, and I was excited to grill oysters over charcoal. The staff were friendly and helpful, making it a memorable family trip. I’d love to return.
