I got to watch Toba’s Summer Fireworks Festival from my room, which I was lucky to see during my stay. The room was quite large, and even though the facilities looked dated, everything worked well and seemed maintained. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from Toba station. The older staff were very, very friendly and helpful. As a woman traveling alone, I felt they tried hard to communicate and look after me like I was their grandchild ☺️.

The owners were very friendly, though their English was limited. It’s handy for Toba train station and restaurants, but that also means you can hear the train. A traditional ryokan, very old, but well maintained for its age.

The room was really big, clean, and cozy in Japanese style, with everything I needed. There’s a separate shower and bathtub room, along with a separate toilet. The windows aren’t great, so you can hear noise from the train station on the sea side. The staff were exceptionally friendly and tried their best to communicate with foreigners despite limited English. The men’s and women’s onsen are big and pretty nice, though vintage too. The whole place is very vintage. It looks like it was built in the seventies and renovated in different spots, and you can really see signs of wear. I’d recommend it if you like the feel of old places.
