Smile Hotel Tokyo Nihombashi

The building feels quite old, and there were a couple of small issues: cleaning only happens once every three days, which might bother some guests, and the bidet in my room wasn’t working properly. Even so, I’d consider staying at Smile Hotel Tokyo Nihonbashi again. It’s a practical, comfortable option with friendly and helpful staff who made things easy from check-in through check-out. For Tokyo, the price is relatively affordable and good value. The location is convenient, near a train station and a Lawson convenience store for everyday needs. Since it’s on a main road, getting there by taxi is easy.

There’s an ice machine, which was a nice feature, and a few restaurants nearby. The location also makes a good base, with three stations close by that can take you anywhere in tokyo. The staff were especially nice and helpful. Rooms are tiny, though that seems typical for Tokyo, and the bathroom and shower aren’t great if you’re tall. Still, it’s a nice, inexpensive hotel.

The location is good, but the rooms are musty and dusty. I had rashes from the bedding and sneezed nonstop during my stay. They only clean the room every three days, which feels like a long time for a 3-star hotel. It didn’t live up to its ratings, though it would’ve been acceptable if the rooms weren’t so dusty.

The front desk staff were polite, but when I asked for another pillow, they said they had none. That left me feeling like they weren’t ready to look after guests. Housekeeping only comes every three days, which added to the neglected feeling. The room was shockingly tiny, even by Tokyo standards, and the bed was very uncomfortable. Under the covers, the duvet was stained and gross. The room was dusty, with furnishings that looked decades old, and the window beside my head had water damage that seemed unhygienic. The lobby ceiling also had obvious water damage and mold, while the dark, dirty, outdated hallways made the whole place feel run down and overdue for renovations. I booked because the price seemed reasonable, but wish I’d paid a little more for somewhere else. This was a disappointment from start to finish.
