Chisun Hotel Hamamatsucho

The cleaners were warm, efficient, and did a good job, which is where the stars come from. The exterior looked pleasant, but the room was so uncomfortable it gave me palpitations and hypertension. The weather was hot and stuffy, but the AC had been switched off because it was still considered "winter." They gave us a fan as compensation, which I couldn't see being enough. My friend was told they were out of fans and couldn't give her one. The room was old and poorly maintained, with lots of marks, and I couldn't move the blinds in the morning. The toilet was ancient too. Even public toilets in subway and metro stations are automated, but here I had to hold a knob to rinse, which was really inconvenient. You have to walk a lot, put up with apologies, and accommodate problems despite this being a “HOTEL” and not HOSTEL. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Check-in and check-out were quick and pleasant, and the lobby supplies the amenities. For getting here, don't blindly trust GOOGLE MAP, it sent me the long way around. You don't need the underpass shown in the picture. Follow the map to the big walkway in the picture, then keep walking straight. The room is small for one person but manageable. My small mid-size luggage and bag both fit by the door, though I put the bag on the bed against the wall. The shower room was small but just big enough for me, with an easy-to-adjust hot water tap. The bed was comfortable, and the window arrangement was odd but also kind of unique. There's a 1kyen machine on your floor, iykyk. The hotel is surrounded by office buildings, but there's a conbini and McDonald's nearby if you're hungry. I forgot to take a picture. The table chair does squeeze you a bit, but I only used it for eating, so it didn't bother me.

The room was clean and had all the amenities I needed. Lawson is nearby. The train stations are about a 10 minutes' walk away, and you can still hear trains at night, though the noise didn't really disturb my sleep.

The staff were the best, really friendly and helpful. Some spoke English, and check-in was easy with my reservation number and passport. The rooms were clean, though a little dated, and I'd come back. The location is great, with the metro close by. Lawson is on the corner for a late-night snack. My room cost 1900¥ a night.
