The Sky Lounge on the 11th floor is a lovely place to get away from the city bustle, with high ceilings and an open terrace. The view is mostly nearby buildings and the expressway, but the lounge itself is beautiful, and there's an impressive whiskey collection at the entrance. Breakfast is served there too, though it’s quite basic and the selection is limited. Big eaters might want to try one of the many breakfast places around Ueno Station instead. At $51, this clean, modern hidden gem in the Ueno area was an unbelievable price. My single room was compact at 11 sqm but functional, with enough floor space to open a suitcase. I loved the chic modern interior and distinctive blue window lighting, a stylish budget stay. For dinner, "LANDABOUT Table" is a 9-min walk away, and its fusion menu and stylish atmosphere were a highlight of my trip. Since I pack a lot, the big room at a cheaper price than other hotels worked really well for me. Having a pharmacy downstairs was handy too. It's a bit far from the train stations, but we were okay with that since we love walking in Japan.

Our room was very comfortable, and the location is great, not far from Ueno Station. The one downside was breakfast: the servers couldn't tell us the ingredients in any of the dishes. That makes it unsuitable for anyone with food allergies or intolerances.

We stayed four nights in a twin room on the 5th floor. The mattress, pillows, and duvet were comfortable, and the room was fine for a three-star hotel in Tokyo, though there was barely any closet or shelf space for luggage. Breakfast was average. There are more shops near Iriya Station than around the hotel, and Tokyo Metro Iriya Station is closer than JR Ueno Station. Getting there with bags can be harder, though, and map apps tend to send you to the back entrance through a drugstore. After 22:00, the store is closed, so you have to walk around the block. The bathroom is the typical Japanese unit-bath style.
