Hotel Livemax Asakusa Ekimae

The rooms were clean and everything worked well. They’re small, so keep that in mind if you’re tall or on the larger side. Front desk agents are around, though check-in and checkout are done yourself at a kiosk. A nice place to stop and refresh.

The bed was very firm, and the window only opens a little, with a view of another building. The room door opens outside onto a balcony. The TV remote didn’t work, though that was the least of it. I wouldn’t choose this place again. There was dust and spiderwebs on the walls and in the AC and bathroom vents, plus mold and scum around the bath. There was unknown dirty stuff in several spots on the walls and long dark hair on the floor. The bathroom door squeaks and the water pressure is poor. The room needs more attention to detail.

The location is good, the rooms are clean, and the reception staff were fine. Management was another story. When I made a formal complaint about the noise, the desk staff member tried to help politely, but management was rude and dismissive. They told me to deal with it or stay somewhere else. I’ve never been spoken to like that in a hotel. The AC/heater units were loud, and I think one was broken, which made it even noisier. For some nonsensical reason, the exhaust fans were in the hallway right next to the rooms. If you need sleep, this place isn’t for you. Bring ear plugs, I had to go buy some. I can’t recommend the hotel because of the noise and service. The picture is of my room with the noisy exhaust fans in the background.

We loved the place and would pick it again, especially for the microwave. Other hotels don’t have one, which was pretty inconvenient, and I was so happy this one did. The room is small, but about average for Tokyo. We only stayed one night, and it was good value for the money. The location is great, close to the Chikatetsu, and check-in was quick. The staff are friendly. There wasn’t much to see, but the stay worked well for us.
