JR East Hotel Mets Koenji

I slept well every night because the hotel was so quiet, even right beside JR Kōenji Station. It was very clean too, and the location made getting around easy.

Koenji is one of Tokyo’s hipper neighborhoods, and this subway-run hotel makes for a convenient, consistent stay. The restaurant inside is a Denny’s, with Japanese as well as Western food.

The room’s single-pane window got covered in heavy condensation during the cold, rainy weather, and anything we left on the sill ended up soaked. My wife and I spent five nights in the smallest, cheapest room. It really suited just one person: there was only one chair, so one of us had to perch on the bed in the evenings. Next time we’ll probably book the next size up. The big advantage is the location, right by Koenji JR station.

Even though it’s right above the JR line, I slept fine and didn’t notice noise. The rooms and bathrooms are roomier than at an average budget business hotel in Tokyo, and the smaller station location is convenient. I found everything I needed, including laundry, steady Wi-Fi, and good air conditioning. Staff were pleasant, helpful, and professional. Booking, check-in, and check-out were easy, and my packages were received without any problems.
