We had one of our best meal experiences yet, easily a 10/10. Dinner was cooked in a hearth, and breakfast came with the most peaceful view. The host was welcoming, kind, and patient. We had an amazing time and wished we could have stayed more nights. Highly recommended.
It’s a bit remote, but the setting is gorgeous. Be sure to stroll around to the beautiful waterfalls and nearby shrine. The staff were extremely friendly and personable, the meals were amazing, and we had a wonderful ryokan stay.

It's a small local house, not a hotel.
We asked for a mortar and pestle to pound rice cakes, and everyone welcomed us warmly. I recently visited with my family, relatives, and the families of friends and acquaintances. We had a wonderful time, including with the neighbors, and I’d like to come again.
