Keio Plaza Hotel Hachioji

The room was big, and the amenities were superb. It's well placed for shopping and close to the station, and they also have a theme room. Breakfast was excellent, especially the chocolate and matcha latte. The staff were really kind and helpful, and good at English too.

The check-in policy caught us off guard. It's strictly at 3 PM, and they don't allow early check-in even for a fee. We had a full itinerary and hoped to rest and get ready after the long trip, so waiting pushed back the start of our day. We also had trouble getting around from the location, partly because we'd accidentally booked the wrong branch. That's our mistake, though it still made the hotel tricky to reach. We stayed here for a short vacation with my sister and friend, and the Kuromi and My Melody room was adorable. The theme and decor were exactly what I hoped for, cute and unique. But there was a strong cigarette smell when we arrived, which was overwhelming for me because I'm sensitive to strong odors. The carpet wasn't very clean, and the bathroom didn't look thoroughly maintained. It was disappointing given the price and the lovely decor. The service affected my rating most. While we waited outside for check-in, staff asked us to leave even after we explained that we had a 3 PM reservation. As tired guests waiting for the check-in time, we found that unwelcoming. I normally don't leave negative reviews or want to bash a business. I hope this feedback helps improve things for future guests. My ratings would be service 2/5, since staff could have been more understanding; location 1/5, as it's not easy to get to; and room 3/5, because the cute, creative concept was brought down by the smell and cleanliness. The themed room is a lovely idea. With more attention to cleanliness, hospitality, and flexibility, it could be a five-star experience.

The My Melody and Kuromi room was super cute, and I did appreciate the goodie bag. But it was dirty when we arrived, even though we'd tried to check in early and were told it wasn't ready. There were stains on the carpet, a strong cigarette smell, and the bathroom wasn't very clean. The location was also hard to navigate, and they only have two-seat taxis available. I wouldn't recommend it for a group.
