Keio Presso Inn Gotanda

The hotel was neat and clean, and the staff were friendly and very cooperative. It's some distance from the center, but Gotanda Metro station is close, so you can get around easily. Breakfast isn't complimentary. You can pick up coffee at the Lawson Store just opposite.

I was extremely disappointed by the service. They wouldn't accept food in the lobby for me when I ordered it through Uber. They also charge 1,000 yen for a plastic room key if you accidentally lose one. Paying over $130 for a room but not being able to get back in to your things without paying 1,000 yen, about $7 USD, is absurd. It's a broken policy for hotel guests. I usually try to leave five-star reviews, but this policy needs to be called out. Don't stay here if you expect to be treated like a paying customer.

Even though our spare key was in the room and we'd only lost one key, management charged 1,000 yen for a new plastic room key. They left us unable to access our personal belongings in a room we'd paid for. A good hotel would let a guest into their room or provide a replacement key, especially when they're paying over 20,000 yen, which should cover a lost plastic card. Awful management and a terrible way to treat guests.

This was our honeymoon, and we expected basic hospitality, understanding, and clear policies for a hotel costing $130 a night. Instead, we're extremely disappointed with our stay at Keio Presso Inn Gotanda, and I wouldn't recommend it. After we ordered food delivery, we went downstairs five minutes after it arrived. Staff told us they'd accept deliveries for us this one last time. It felt completely unnecessary and unfriendly. Then, after a long day exploring Tokyo, we couldn't find one of our room keys. Staff member SUNAR ROSHAN refused to let us back into our room unless we paid 1,000 yen for a new plastic key card. We checked the hotel's website, FAQ, and booking pages afterwards, and found no public mention of this replacement fee or an official policy about it. We received none of the hospitality or transparency we'd expected.
