Pod Select Hotel Shinjuku

We ended up moving to another hotel, and my request to cancel the separately booked second night wasn’t accepted. I’d initially booked one night, then changed our itinerary and made another booking for an extra night. After seeing the room and realizing the problems were worse than expected, I asked to cancel that second booking. The room was far too small for three adults. With three suitcases inside, there was barely room to move, and only one suitcase could be opened at a time. Even with them closed, getting around was difficult. The hotel felt old and not particularly clean. The air-conditioning unit sat on the floor in a room of around 15m², taking up even more space. There were also about 10 steps at the entrance, so we had to carry our luggage up and down. That would be especially inconvenient for older guests, anyone with limited mobility, or people carrying heavy bags. I chose this hotel because I was driving, not because it was near the station. Parking nearby was another disappointment: around JPY 3,300 for 10 hours, compared with the JPY 1,500-2,000 per night that many other hotels or parking facilities typically charge. That added an unexpected cost. I also wish the booking information had been clearer about the usable room space, whether it would work for three adults, the entrance steps, and parking, so guests could judge for themselves. It might suit a solo or business traveller staying briefly, carrying little luggage, and spending most of the time out. For families, three adults, people with multiple suitcases, drivers, or older travellers, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This stay didn’t meet expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend this room category for three adults.
