Keio Presso Inn Ikebukuro

I spent five nights here in October. I usually compare business hotels at this price with APA and Tokyu Stay. This one is in southeast Ikebukuro, about a seven-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, along a pleasant boulevard with trees and a wide sidewalk. My 13th-floor room was cramped, as I expected for a business hotel in this class, but it was comfortable, quiet, and very clean. The restaurant on site serves breakfast buffet only, for 1,500 yen each morning, which seemed good value. For other food, there's a Family Mart and a small cafe/restaurant next door. A five to ten minute walk brings you to lots more places near the station and in Sunshine City. The staff, mostly women, cheerfully greeted me whenever I came or went. I had a few small annoyances: just one flat pillow, which isn't my preference, and a folding luggage stand so small it was nearly useless even for my carry-on. The lobby is on the third floor, with just one elevator from the ground floor. At check-in time the wait gets too long, so I started using the stairs. Still, I think it's a good hotel and would return next time.
