Ohana Tokyo House

The owners made us feel very welcome when we stayed during the first week of June. There’s a Daiso and a drug store right nearby, which made it easy to pick up things we needed. The rooms are quite tight if you’re sharing with someone, and while the station is walkable, the fares add up. Getting to metro Tokyo took us roughly 40 minutes to an hour.

The location worked well, close to stations and shops, and getting up to the top floor wasn’t difficult. We had good AC in both the room and kitchen. The toilet was nice and the shower was spacious, which I appreciated as a tall person after struggling with showers in other Japanese apartments. The room suited the two of us. I’d recommend it, especially for taller guests.

We found Ohana Tokyo house clean, cared for, and welcoming, especially for the price. I’m not sure why some reviews call the area dirty or neglected. The bigger drawback is how far Adachi city is from the main tourist sights. Trains are quick and straightforward, but getting into Tokyo costs around 500-600 yen per person each way. The nearest train is the nippori-toneri liner, about 290 yen for its 10-minute ride to nippori station. If you’re traveling with someone, going back and forth each day can come to 1500 yen or more.

Oh, absolutely not. These reviews are bots. This is a real one from booking: The room was horribly tiny, with nowhere at all for suitcases. People changed clothes in the kitchen, sometimes as late as 1 at night. Our room was dirty when we arrived. The host offered another one, but that was dirty too. He even admitted by text that it had been used before, and said he could cancel the booking so we could go elsewhere. The room is only suitable for one person, yet it’s offered to two. I’ve stayed in hostels with 10 people in a room that were nowhere near this dirty. The closest train is 1 km away. Just no!
