It was fine otherwise, and the hostel is extremely affordable, but there are a lot of rules. I stayed with my child and felt a bit uncomfortable. The shared bedroom areas need to stay quiet, which can be hard with a child, and the signs asking people not to chat felt a little extreme. Kids love talking, so I was nervous the whole time and didn’t want to bother the other guests. The elevators were out, so carrying luggage up the stairs was inconvenient too. I’d recommend this place for adults and solo travelers, and it may not be a good fit if you have children.

The only positive thing about Owl Hostel was its convenient location. The customer service was horrible, and the front desk manager was extremely rude and unhelpful. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry our luggage to the third floor. Check-in was at 3 pm. We were allowed to drop our bags off at 2 pm, but couldn’t use the toilet until check-in. I booked two beds, but they charged me for two sets of two beds, so I had to pay for four twin beds. Owl Hotel’s marketing, selling beds in pairs instead of per bed, was misleading and came with misinformation. It was confusing, cunning and stupid. There were too many stupid rules, and the slippers were torn, dirty and unsanitary. Worst hostel ever!

The onsen is nearby, and the place itself was clean with free water and coffee. But the elevator wasn't working, and the stairwell gets really hot in summer with no AC. The slippers smelled bad and didn't seem hygienic. I don't think they clean them, so plastic ones would be better. It was loud throughout the hotel, and the bathroom was only a few meters from the capsule (see first Pic). The mattress was so uncomfortable that sleeping on the floor would have been better. I can't recommend it.

The clean showers had hot water and good pressure, and the staff spoke English well and answered my questions. The hostel is a short walk from the train station. I shared the mostly full third-floor room with what looked like 20 other girls. Some were noisy after quiet hours, and since the pods only have curtains, you hear everything. Not great for light sleepers. Still, I was glad to have a proper bed between flights.
