Real Waseda

We booked Real Waseda SJ0261 through Booking.com for March 4-10, 2026. Because of the armed conflict in the Persian Gulf and Qatar Airways suspending all flights, travel became impossible, with thousands stranded at airports including Doha and Dubai. I contacted the property right away to ask for a free cancellation due to force majeure and even offered to rebook for October 2026. They refused. Given the host’s high occupancy, I think they’ll almost certainly get a replacement booking and have no financial loss. Booking.com sent an email explaining the global crisis, but the property still refused a full refund and continued emailing to ask what time we’d check in, even though no one could arrive because of the war and widespread flight cancellations. I believe this goes against Booking.com’s extraordinary-circumstances policies and basic consumer rights. I’d thought Japanese people were ethically considerate and sensible, so this greedy behavior, putting money over ethics, was a huge disappointment. Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid this property at all costs. A total disaster.
