The building is old, but it was cleaned regularly and I didn’t run into anything unpleasant. After several recent nights here, these are the things I noticed. The wide capsules get hot, around 25-26 degrees Celsius on the thermometer. They seem poorly ventilated because they’re enclosed, and even with the fan on, it barely cools things down. The mattress is thinner than at some other capsule hotels and gave me back pain. The indoor clothes also run big, especially the bottoms. The elastic is loose, so they slip unless you tighten the drawstring. Apparently they only come in L and LL. The regular capsules smell of cigarettes, even though there’s meant to be a smoking separation. Non-smokers will notice it right away. If you’re sensitive, choose a cabin or wide capsule, as those don’t smell. I’ve stayed in the wide capsule four times and each time there was a heavy snorer, perhaps because wider-bodied people use them. Good earplugs are a must. Capsule i has a single outlet in an awkward spot directly under the ventilation fan, so a short cord will dangle. Bring a cable at least 1m long. Power strips and cables aren’t rented, but cables can be bought for 300 yen each. The relaxation area has no outdoor space, mist feature, or bathroom fans, though there are plenty of chairs and benches. The wristband vending machines show a 10,000 yen balance when activated, which looks like you’ve been charged, but it’s only a display error and there’s no payment problem. The dining area’s “Tired Evening Drink Set” is a good deal: for 700 yen you get a draft beer and a snack nearly the size of a full dish, and the beer alone is 600 yen. The löyly gets incredibly hot as soon as the steam fills the room. I had to leave before experiencing the fanning. It’s especially intense with peppermint water, which seems to increase the heat. Some people endured it on the lower level, but I wonder if anyone can handle the top. Try it only if you’re confident with high heat. There’s no shaving foam, so you have to use facial cleanser, which you need to fetch from the shelf rather than finding it with the shampoo. The only hair product is some kind of natural mist, so bring your own wax, liquid, or spray if you need it. Hope these notes help if you’re planning to use the facilities.
