Shibuya Stream Hotel

The room was a nice compact size. I used points, so the cost worked for me, but cash rates aren’t cheap. Being directly connected to Shibuya Station makes it quick to catch the Narita Express and spend more time in town. Big thanks to Sofia for carrying my luggage all the way from the hotel to the ticket gates, and for being patient while I booked a train ticket just 15 minutes before departure.

We stayed six nights and would come back. Finding the hotel entrance was a little tricky, just a heads up. The location is so convenient for first-time visitors, with transit right next door and lots of food nearby. The service was courteous and attentive, and our room was clean with a great shower and tub. Our giant bags had nowhere to go, though, so we had to leave them unpacked. There’s a bar and restaurant in the hotel, but we didn’t try either. Guests get a discount, and there are DJs some nights, but we didn’t hear any noise or have any disturbance. It’s a good mid-range option. It helps to do some research and stay open to new experiences and being a bit outside your comfort zone when visiting Japan. It’s wonderfully clean and orderly, people take pride in things and are very nice. I’ll miss the cleanliness, attention to detail, and respect for timeliness. I can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for the location, service, and experience.

Waking up to views of the Shibuya crossing and city skyline was magical. Shibuya Stream Hotel is connected directly to Shibuya Station, but it’s somehow quiet and peaceful inside. The room was spotless, modern, and surprisingly spacious by Tokyo standards, with a very comfortable bed and a fantastic rain shower. Staff were warm, professional, and spoke excellent English. It was great having Starbucks and good dining options downstairs in Shibuya Stream complex. Whether you’re here for work or leisure, they get the details right. I’ll definitely be back!

The bed was awesome, and the front desk staff were pleasant. That’s about all I’ll rave about, though. I paid nearly $500/night for a Monday/Tuesday stay after staying at the Rosewood in Guangzhou, and I was really disappointed. The rooms and bathroom are small, and this just isn’t my style. Maybe the hip kids like it, but I think I picked the wrong hotel and neighborhood. I’m in my late 20s/early 30s hipster phase no longer, I guess. I almost booked hotel Indigo and now wish I had. Next trip. The drip coffee setup in the room was a bit inconvenient, and the shower was a pain. The bidet was nice. The downstairs bar was weird: despite having a FULL bar, the server said I could only choose from six drinks on a paper for that week’s event, none of which were alcoholic. Eventually a manager let me order a cocktail. It’s connected to the metro/JR lines, so getting around is easy, even though it’s more on the outskirts. There are great restaurants on the levels around the hotel. Harajuku and Ginza stops are about 20 minutes away, and Senso-Ji Shrine on the other side of town is about 35-40min away.
