Tokyo Inn

I ended up finding this the most expensive hotel per night of the places I stayed, and it didn't feel like the best value. The staff were really nice, though, and the hot water was adequate despite low pressure. The Megome subway worked for getting to most places on the east side, but check whether that line suits your plans. It felt like a retro shock after newer business hotels. You have to leave the old-style key at reception when you go out, and the furniture was beat up with dusty corners. The heat was either on or off, so I kept adjusting it to stay comfortable. I bunched up the duvet to make it soft enough to sleep on, then folded some of it into a pillow. Once I got back into the mindset of my teenage years staying in a New York City hostile, the place seemed utilitarian and fine. The amenities still weren't as good as at the other hotels I'd stayed in.

The location is the best part, just seconds on foot from Magome Metro Station, and there's parking for several vehicles. The room is on the small side, but the bed was fair enough and everything was clean. Some of the facilities felt a bit old. The price is what you'd expect in Tokyo.

The staff were friendly, and I liked the adjacent restaurant since it's my favorite franchise restaurant in Japan. The hotel itself was good. The one problem was the heating: the fan stayed on high no matter what setting I chose, so the room swung between too hot and too cold.

There's a restaurant at this comfortable hotel, and Magome subway station is only a few minutes away on foot. It made a convenient base for exploring Tokyo. I'd definitely recommend it.
