The hotel was fine in general, but one incident with staff left us disappointed. We were already waiting for the elevator before other people arrived. Staff stopped us from getting in together with Japanese guests who were staying at the hotel, even though we had been waiting in line. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unfairly treated. I understand that hotels may have their own procedures, but a queue should be treated equally for everyone. I hope the hotel looks into this and ensures guests are treated fairly.
The breakfast was delicious, and everything was comfortable and clean. My room was cleaned every day, with the bed made and fresh towels. They also provide facial products and personal care items for free. Check-in was easy. Just remember to check out before 10 or you'll be charged. It was my first time in Tokyo, and finding this hotel on Expedia was one of my best choices. The train is about a four-minute walk away, and the city is around 20-25 minutes away. I’m super picky about hotels, but I have no regrets. The price was great, and I’ll stay here again.
The location is a little far from Tokyo's main sights, but the price is in line with other hotels. It’s a great option for a short stay. My room was spacious and had everything I needed. If you’re missing something, you can pick it up in the lobby, like a comb or toothpaste and toothbrush. They also offer beer or soft drinks as a welcome gift. I’m giving it four stars because breakfast doesn’t have many choices, especially if Japanese food isn't your thing.
Being near the Tsukuba Express station made getting around easy. The room, bathroom, and toilet were clean, and it was a nice place to rest after a full day on foot. Check-in gave me a little trouble, but they sorted it out right away. It is on the pricey side, though I expected that from a four-star hotel.
We booked two weeks here and would definitely come back ❤️. The bed and pillow are firmer than Western ones, but I found they helped my posture and were good for my back. Breakfast is delicious, and the three older women preparing it clearly put a lot of care into their work. They keep the food coming and make sure the tables and trays are clean. It’s impressive how many good dishes they manage to make in such a small kitchen. Please keep it up. Getting checked in was smooth. You pull up your online reservation at the kiosk, scan everyone’s passports, and get a printout with your room details and two keys. The front desk staff are always friendly, helpful, and incredibly polite. I’ve never had this kind of service. The printout also shows which day housekeeping is scheduled. Hotel service in Japan is beyond what I expected. Our room was spotless. The TV displays the Wi-Fi password, asks whether you want breakfast the next day to help avoid waste, and shows the daily breakfast menu. On days without room service, staff leave extra towels and a garbage bag at the door. Leave used towels and rubbish outside, and they collect them the same day. The lobby is always clean, too. We were there during the fifth anniversary of Kirin beer and sake, and got one free beer each day. Just ask the front desk for a cup. The sign asks guests to leave the one-cup-per-day offer for others too, so please don’t abuse the honest system. There’s a big Manga collection, though it’s in Japanese, and we would have loved to spend hours reading it. There’s also a laundry machine for a small fee and two vending machines with hot, cold, and other drinks. The location is great: the subway is across the street, with a grocery store and pharmacy nearby. There’s a cute little coffee shop just a few steps away, a peaceful small park along the river, and lots of restaurants around. The technology in Japan is so advanced that language isn’t a problem if you’re willing to make an effort to communicate. This hotel is underrated. The processes are efficient if you pay attention to them, and the service is beyond anything I’ve had in other countries. Try to adapt to Japanese customs and you’ll see how much sense they make. Toyoko Inn staff, thank you for taking such good care of us. You never made the language barrier an issue. Keep up the great work!
