Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown

I had a good time here overall during my two-month stay in a 1b1b. The appliances in the room were great, housekeeping cleaned every two days, and there was a light breakfast downstairs each day with salmon, fruit, and other things. Most of the staff were nice and greeted me when they saw me. I’m taking off one star because some front desk staff weren’t friendly, which felt bad at times.

The Sony TVs and Blueray boxes were frustrating for streaming services like YouTube and Netflix. Their interface was terrible, and they were unreliable, often dropping off the network. Replacing them with Google ChromeCasts would work much better. It’d also help to give each room a simple wifi SSID and password instead of the network login system, which made connecting less simple and reliable, especially across devices. Finally, please turn off the televisions in the breakfast area. They were distracting when we wanted a peaceful breakfast, and over our two-month stay I never saw a customer watching them with interest.

For the price, the customer experience was awful and the value was really poor. They didn’t help customers. We found insects in the room, and a lot of the electrical appliances, such as the gas equipment, weren’t working and had to be fixed. You’d be better off going to a hotel.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom felt luxurious, with a Grohe multiple massage rainforest showerhead. I had a fabulous weekend stay. One surprise was being charged for all the toiletries. I’d expect body shower foam and a toothbrush to be provided in a hotel-apartment.
