Yaesu Terminal Hotel

The location is why I gave it a high rating: Tokyo Station and Nihombashi Station are very close, and the Ginza Line gets you to Shibuya without a transfer. As a business hotel it’s convenient, but the rooms are small for tourists. I had a single room and couldn’t open even my carry-on suitcase unless I put it on the bed. The rooms are simple and have what you need, though there’s no safe. The washrooms were clean and had plenty of hot water. The area stays lively at night, but I was on the seventh floor. Even so, the walls were thin, and I could hear TVs, snoring, and toilets flushing. Ventilation wasn’t great either, and cigarette smoke from the streets made its way inside. I put up the DND sign because I didn’t need service, but they still left a tote with towels and amenities outside my door. It was a nice gesture, though not very eco-friendly. Check-in and check-out were uneventful, and everyone was welcoming.

My single room was spotless, and the staff were warm and friendly. The rooms are small by Tokyo standards, but I could open my fairly large suitcase and it felt more spacious than a standard APA Hotel room. The price was good even during peak sakura season. The location gets a 10/10 from me. It’s just steps from Tokyo Station, with Nihonbashi subway station around the corner. If you’re taking an airport bus, the pickup point is just across the road from the street the hotel is on. They’ve recently added coin-operated washers and dryers, and reception exchanged my notes for 100-yen coins. I’ll definitely stay here again!

We got a good price for an overnight stay before taking the Shinkansen. The room was far too small for two, even though it was a deluxe, so we had to open our luggage on the bed. Most rooms around Tokyo are small, though. The construction was heavy when we arrived, which made getting in difficult. Otherwise, it’s a five-to-eight-minute walk from the JR Tokyo Nihombashi entrance, across the main road. The reception is on the second floor. Check-in and check-out went smoothly, and the woman at reception was very helpful with sending our luggage.

The price is great and Tokyo Station is an easy walk away, so it’s a good deal for solo travelers. The single room was small but fine for me, and I could lay my 28-inch suitcase open.
