The hotel’s in a handy spot, right in front of Tokyo Skytree with easy public transport, and there’s a supermarket downstairs with long opening hours. The rooms were quiet and large by Tokyo standards. There’s a floor with a free microwave and ice maker, plus paid coin laundry. The TV shows the current occupancy of the laundry machines. I did find that the “eco cleaning” option only meant emptying the trash and making the bed. The room wasn’t actually cleaned, and the coffee packs weren’t refilled, so I switched to full cleaning for the remaining nights. Most rooms don’t actually have a view of Tokyo Skytree, though. I’d originally have given the stay five stars, since the hotel itself was fine and convenient, but a credit card payment mistake soured things. I was charged the wrong amount and asked to have it refunded and pay again. I offered to pay the 300yen balance in cash instead of reversing the transaction and charging the correct amount. That little 300yen error ended up costing me 2000 yen, because the original card transaction fee wasn’t refundable and currency conversion rates were different. A costly price to pay for a mistake that wasn’t mine.

I booked a superior room and got upgraded to a much bigger deluxe room, which was spacious and luxurious. The room, service, and complete amenities all left me satisfied. Water pressure and heating were great, and they held my luggage for a few days while I was out of town, free of charge. The staff were very nice and friendly. The hotel is right across from a mall and next to the Oshiage Station elevator exit A1. Even without the upgrade, I’d give it a 10/10. I’ll definitely come back and recommend it to friends and family.

The staff were lovely and went out of their way to help, from the front desk to the dining room. They were kind and also knew their stuff. Everything ran with understated efficiency, but it was the genuine warmth of the team that stood out. The hotel was fabulous, and the room was comfortable and spacious for our family of four, considerably larger than what you might find in many European capitals. The metro station was only a stone’s throw away, with connections to pretty much anywhere in Tokyo. We had a most enjoyable first trip to the city, and I think our experience at the Richmond was a big part of that. We look forward to staying here again.

The only change I’d suggest is an à la carte breakfast option. The buffet felt a little pricey when we just wanted a light breakfast, though at least there was a nice grocery store next door. Otherwise, the room was large, clean, and very comfortable. It’s an easy walk to Tokyo Skytree and Oshiage station. The shower was hot with great pressure, and there was a tub with complementary bath salts too.

The neighborhood gets calm in the evenings and at night, and the shopping mall inside Skytree is handy for everyday needs. We wanted somewhere that wasn’t too central but still easy to reach from the center, and this hotel’s location was spot on for that. The hotel was very good, and we were happy with everything, including the rooms and cleanliness.
