The washing machine and dryer were great, and the scenery was beautiful. I only wish they'd replaced those orange curtains too! 🤣🤣🤣

The one thing to keep in mind is the long staircase you have to climb to check in. Hauling heavy luggage up and down could be tough, so if you're driving for just a night or two, leaving the big suitcases in the car and taking up only what you need might be easier. Once inside, the house is set up nicely for a family or group of friends. It has two guest rooms, each with two comfortable single beds and pillows. Both rooms have air conditioning, a dressing table, and a wardrobe. One opens onto a terrace with an open outlook and a partial sea view. The living room has its own terrace, plus a sofa, dining table and chairs, and an open kitchen for simple meals. There's a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, and paper towels, but no condiments. The bathroom was clean, with a bathtub and shower, washing machine, and clothes rack. Toothpaste and toothbrushes were supplied too. Free parking is across the street from the entrance, with signs marking the spaces. Getting in was easy: the host sent the check-in steps and access code the day before, so we didn't need to meet them. The location is handy as well, only a few minutes' drive from big supermarkets and shops, with lots of restaurants nearby.

The entrance had a tiny crab wandering around, maybe because it was raining, and it was incredibly cute. The toilet was cute too, everything felt photogenic. From both the living room and bedroom, you can see Angel Road. There's a supermarket close by, so getting groceries is easy. For check-in, you'll need ID such as a driver's license. Strong-smelling cooking, like yakiniku, isn't allowed. I only made somen noodles with some fresh noodles I bought. A 250g portion was enough, and there was a bowl and colander. Kitchen paper is provided, though next time I might bring a dishcloth and a towel for drying dishes.

For a self-guided trip around Shodoshima, this guesthouse is a great pick. The Mediterranean-style place was very clean and tidy, and had a stove, dishes for cooking after grocery shopping, and a washing machine. The surroundings and scenery were superb, with a supermarket just a five-minute walk away. Check-in was simple: enter the room code and show the host a photo of your passport. Nobody greets you in person, which made the stay feel really relaxing. Five stars!
