The beds were hard as stone, and I really disliked the rule that you can’t stay in the lounge or anywhere at the hostel after checking out at 10 am. You have to pay a fee to remain. I’ve never come across that at a hostel or hotel before. The location was okay: about a 15-minute walk to Tottori station and 11 minutes to the bus station for buses to the Sand dunes. There’s a lot of manga in the lounge.

A clean, affordable guesthouse with friendly staff and free parking. Parking is limited, though. There’s also an onsen, or bathhouse, right across from the guesthouse.

The owner was friendly, and this was a clean, quiet, affordable place with all the amenities. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the station. The bedding could be better. The mattress was pretty thin and uncomfortable, and the bed curtains didn’t offer much privacy.
