Hotel Sea Palace Resort

It was a nice hotel otherwise, but smokers in the lobby spoiled my stay since there was no designated smoking area.

Really nice!

The baths were clean, and I was pleasantly surprised by all the extras: cold water bottles, a well-stocked vending machine, and even ice cream. There are three indoor baths and one outside. They aren't natural hot springs, but the radium bath, milk bath, and weak electric bath made for an unusual selection. The electric bath tingled quite a bit and startled me at first. I hadn't expected much from the baths, but was very satisfied. We had a hearty sukiyaki dinner and asked for it to be prepared right away because I don't drink alcohol. I could barely manage the udon that came at the end. The hotel was quiet everywhere, perhaps because we arrived on Sunday, when it seemed very empty. I asked whether cancellations were connected to the current issue of inbound tourists and was told the hotel generally doesn't accept reservations from inbound tourists. We'd gone to Nagoya for my grandson's Shichigosan ceremony and stayed overnight because a day trip would have been too much. The next morning was sunny, and the ocean view from our window was stunning. I returned home to Ibaraki Prefecture via Omaezaki Lighthouse.

Dinner ruined the whole experience. We were assigned a late buffet time, and when we got there the live kitchen was empty, no cooks were around, and the food hadn't been replenished. There were hardly any people at the tables, and it felt like we were being served leftovers. The buffet was absolutely terrible, and I won't stay here again. The only thing particularly noteworthy is the swimming pool.
