Royal Hotel Uohachi

Affordable and clean 👍

The room was really small.

I was traveling alone for work, and the fast Wi-Fi meant I could get some work done. The room felt a bit dark and had an old-school Showa-era look. There wasn’t an outlet beside the pillow, which was inconvenient, and the hair dryer was an old-fashioned type. Breakfast was a real highlight: lots of choices, some unusual side dishes, and everything tasted good. It was satisfying, almost like a ryokan breakfast, and I’d stay again just for that. The public bath was nice too. Staff were generally friendly, and the handwritten note I got after checking out made me feel well looked after. There’s a 7-Eleven nearby and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Parking can be a problem, though. Even on weekdays it fills up quickly, and I got the impression the first lot fills fast once you leave.

The food was pretty tasty, and the receptionist was kind and friendly. The room had an irritating smell, and there’s no washlet. An air purifier would be nice. A sturdy-looking woman in a mesh hood, who seemed to manage the breakfast area, was shouting at young people in the backyard. Her tone was harsh. I felt down whenever I started my shift, and everyone looked gloomy. They greeted me, but seemed like they were crying inside.
